Other thoughts on Salmon
Monday, November 19th, 2007………….the salmon trimmings! yes I could not resit that pun.
Gilly Salmon’s 5 Step model seems be considered the bedrock of good practice in e-learning moderation.
We have looked at the 5 step model as a group and largely agree with the progression, but then very much like Race’s ripples we see movement between the levels. As new software environments are evolving constantly at the moment, perhaps this model is no longer holding true as a linear progression and we are constantly thrown into scaling another set of steps.
Hopefully our muscles are trained from our previous experience and we can quickly transfer our skills, and gain the heights of achieving our personal learning goals.
The book E-tivities takes this concept on to the design of e-learning activities.
Chapter 6 of the 2nd edition of E-moderating is new. It describes 4 possible futures for e-learning and e-moderating.
I very much like this pp of Gilly’s about the how the future senario “planets” in e-learning might look, down load here.
